Frequently Asked Questions
-
As a birth doula I am a trained, non-medical professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to you before, during, and after childbirth. I offer comfort measures like breathing techniques and laboring positions, I help with advocacy, and I support partners. I do not perform medical tasks or deliver babies.

Our initial consultation is typically a 30-45 minute introduction meeting that you can think of as an interview. I always prefer to meet my clients in person but am available for a video call as an alternative. During this first meeting I have the opportunity to learn more about what you’re searching for in a birth doula and I have the opportunity to answer your questions about my approach, my service packages and my strengths as a member of your birth support team.

In many of the most important ways, I’m very much the same as my fellow birth doulas: I’m educated, talented, calm, caring and deeply invested in my clients’ well being. What sets me apart is the quality of my steadiness. I’m committed to helping you feel calm, informed, protected, and connected to yourself throughout your experience. My work is grounded in preventing avoidable emotional harm, protecting your peace, and helping you feel confident using your voice with your care team. I’m not there to take over your birth - I’m there to support you in moving through it with more clarity, safety, and trust in yourself.

I believe everyone deserves steady support during birth. If my standard rate is beyond your means, please reach out. I’m open to discussing flexible payment options or adjusted support options when possible, with the goal of finding an arrangement that feels fair and sustainable for both of us.

I’m a strong advocate for vulnerable populations and my personal passion within this advocacy work lies with survivors and single parents. 5% of all my sales (note: 5% of sales, not profits) is donated directly to LifeWire Domestic Violence Support, Sexual Violence Law Center, and the YMCA of Greater Seattle. Each of these non-profit organizations does important work within our communities to uplift survivors and single parents with dignity and grace. It’s my lifelong goal to be part of that support.
